Driving Home for Christmas

Driving Home for Christmas

Wouldn't it be great if all of our friends and family only lived down the road from us! Unfortunately, that isn’t always the case. For that reason, we have made a guide on how to have the merriest car journeys this Christmas.

Playlist:

Having the right playlist is essential to making sure your journey has a good vibe. We don’t want the wrong playlist to dampen your spirit.

It’s no doubt that you’ll be in the mood for the Christmas classics, Mariah Carey, Wham, and Michael Bublé and we don’t blame you! However, for those longer journeys you might need to throw in some other road trip bangers. That’s why we’ve created a Spotify playlist that covers a range of genres from classic rock to the charts and we've even thrown in a couple of Christmas carols! If you’re stuck for road trip playlists over the festive season, then why not gives ours a go, there’s over 3hrs of songs!

Car Games for the family

Following on from the above, why not play ‘Name the Artist’ the first person to name the artist or group when a song comes on gets a point, bonus point if you can name the song as well. Give it a go with our playlist or make your own and tailor it to your family’s favorites!

The Alphabet Game, this is one where you need to keep your eye out for signs! You’re looking for a word on any sign that you pass that begins with each letter of the alphabet. Keep tabs of how many you managed to find and compare results at the end to see who the winner is.

This is one for the kids, it’s called ‘Triple Threat’ The adults give three nouns like, Van, Christmas tree, and snow for example. The kids then must create a story that includes all three things.

You could also try the game ‘Who Am I’ one person thinks of a famous person and the rest of the players have to guess who it is by asking yes or no questions only.

Cheesy Christmas Gifts:

Get into the Christmas spirit at the next service station by looking for the cheesiest Christmas souvenir. Set yourself a small budget and away you go, whoever can find the most unique and cheesiest gift is the winner. You could even put a twist on your game by selecting a genre such as ‘pick your car companions favorite road trip snacks’ or ‘Something they need’ or ‘something red and white for Christmas’ – Have some fun with it and show us what you find by tagging us in your Facebook and Instagram pics @braintreevansales – We’d love to see!

Get to know each other!

Lastly, why not spend some time catching up, life can be hectic and we often forget to check in with each other. It’s not often that we have a chunk of time to do just that. As the year is drawing to a close it might be nice to run through all your favorite memories from the year. If you're travelling with someone that you spend a lot of time with you could run through the months and think back what you were doing each month of the year!

Hopefully some of these suggestions help you get through the long journeys over Christmas! We hope you enjoy spending time with your friends and family and stay safe out on the roads this winter.
